Client: Rick Mather Architects and London Borough of Newham
We collaborated with INK on the production of a short film for Rick Mather Architects and London Borough of Newham. The film is “visiting” different spaces around the school, revealing the opportunities which it offers to future students.
“The animation focuses on the impressive harmony of the historic and the contemporary.” The classic beauty of the existing buildings, situated in the heart of East Ham, will surely sow in the future students a feeling of belonging and respect to this unique historic and architectural context. In the interior shots, we have tried to emphasize the harmonious contrast between the classy-archaic architectural envelope of the building outside and the contemporary, creative and inspiring educational environment inside. Light, materials and forms were the means, used to “describe” various social activities and relationships, in spite of the animation defined as “human-figureless”.
On the other hand, after modelling all those existing buildings with all detail, all decorations and what not, we inevitably praise the Lord and Le Corbusier for discovering Modernism, not to forget big thanks to tiny little helpers* who saved us from modelling even the stone dragons manually. Who would blame us if thoughts of grabbing Raskolnikov’s axe and punishing Decoration for being such an architectural crime crossed our minds.
